Certain foods, health conditions and habits are among the causes of bad breath. In many cases, you can improve bad breath with proper dental hygiene.
If simple self-care techniques don’t solve the problem, you may want to see your dentist or doctor to rule out a more serious condition that may be causing your bad breath.
Periodontal (Gum) Disease definitely is a cause of a bad or sour taste in the mouth. Gum disease can also be a cause of bad breath. Hydrogen Sulphide and Methyl Mercaptans are toxic compounds as well as smelling terrible. These sulphides and mercaptans can damage cells and thus are a factor in periodontal disease. If you suspect this particular problem then you need to see a dentist. The bacteria can collect between the gums and the bone creating a bio film. This bio film needs to be cleaned out in order to stop the gum disease.
To get plaque off your teeth you need to brush and floss daily. Any type of electric tooth brush is better than manual brushing. Since you have sensitive teeth you should try any type of tooth paste that is labeled “Sensitive” and do not whiten your teeth until the sensitivity is under control.
You probably have a case or gingavits or some periodontist disease. Don’t worry as treating it is very simple. GO to your dentist right away as senstive teeth needs to be treated with a flouride.
You are most likely brusing too hard and this is brushing the gum line away from the tooth and that is what causes the senstivity.
Either way, go to the dentist asap. If you dont have insurance you can find a dentist at the local dental college to work on you VERY cheap!
1st of all I dont brush as much as I should & still get great checkups. lol
2nd I clean for 5-6 min. with whitening toothpaste which works like tooth polish abrasive at least 2 or 3 times a week. Then use normal toothpaste (Total ) with sonic brush.
I also tongue scrape.
3rd If my gums get inflamed I rub tea tree oil on them with finger just before bed without rinsing, only spitting out the saliva. Tea tree toothpaste is available too.
The bleeding will / should stop like magic in approx 2 days.
Tea tree oil tastes & smells nasty & most people will stay 9 feet away from you this is why do it at night roflmao but it works for gingivitis.
Brush teeth & rinse tea tree oil residue with listerine in morning or youll offend the best of friends lol.
4th I sometimes notice using flashlight the 2 adnoid pockets in the very back of the throat get plugged with white gunk that dont look like the rest of your throat color. This gunk is prob(plaque or food) that stinks really bad.
Gargle & massage(yes you’ll choke on finger a little lol) them with fingertip until the white magical amonia smelling chunks that look like small walnut peices come out the adnoid pockets.

Dental care & mouth care.
After every meal, chew a little salt and gargle with water. Soft brush can be used to clean the particles caught between the teeth and the gums. Make it habit to clean the teeth every morning and before retiring to bed. In India, people use thin twig of a Babul, Banyan or a Neem tree (known as Datoon) as a brush. First it is to be crushed to make it soft and then use it like a brush. It is advisable to us a Datoon of Babul, Banyan or Neem tree at least once a day.
It is reported by experienced dentists that tooth pastes available in the marked are not much effective. Instead, the following tooth powder or paste which can be easily made at home has been found quite useful for the care of gums and teeth :
1. Tooth Powder : Mixture of finely ground alum powder 40% and rock salt or regular salt powder 60%. For better results, a few drops of lemon may be added. In case of dental problems, adding a little of ‘Sudarshan’ (a bitter Ayrvedic powder is also recommended.
2. Tooth-paste : For dental problems like bleeding, pyorrhoea, toothache, gingivitis, etc. make a paste of
50% alum powder
10% rock salt or table salt powder
10% Sudarshan powder (an Ayurvedic preparation)
15% edible oil (unrefined)
10% glycerine tanic acid
5% camphor.
The paste made of this mixture can be massaged on the teeth and gums in the morning and evening with fingers. It ca be packed in collapsible tubes/jars and used, as tooth-paste.
3. Even massaging the gums with a mixture of 70% unrefined edible oil (seasame or groundnut or coconut), 15% glycerine tanic acid and 15% fine powder of rock salt or table salt is useful for good, healthy teeth and gums. Make it a daily habit. Please not that healthy gums are more useful than sparkling white teeth.
4. Mouth Freshener : Gargling with a lemon juice mixed with lukewarm water, freshens the mouth. Take a quarter of a lemon, massage it on teeth and gums and then gargle with water. Even chewing of mango, tulsi or betel leaves after meals is good, and so it is advised in India.
5. Exercises for teeth : Keep the lips closed. Pound the upper teeth on lower teeth for 30 to 40 times twice a day. Then massage the saliva on gums with the tongue. That will ensure proper blood circulation in teeth and increase the life of healthy teeth and gums.
