Ive always had chapped lips. I dont breath through my mouth or lick my lips. They are always chapped, not just in the winter, and chapstick doesnt help (sometimes it makes it even worse). I need to know whats causing it, and how i could cure it.

Maybe you don’t drink enough water, and your lips are chapped because of dehydration.

I have the same problem…and lack of water can definetely be the cause. chapsticks that contain petrolatum make it worse, since your skin can not absorb it. try a good lip treatment w/ vit e or pure cocoa butter (somethimes it can cost $5 -$10) but it’s worth it, try the Body shop, i got something there that I was very impressed by the results.

Maybe your body is not getting enough water, it might be due to being dehydrated, often that can cause your lips to be chapped.

I’ve tried everything. Nothing really works. My skin is dry, my hair is dry so my lips are dry too!

try some sugar (the coarser, the better) and some lemon juice – mix them to make a pasty like mixture, use an old toothbrush or your fingers to rub it into your lips at night and then when you wash it off, use some vitaman E (you can get the solution from the capsule) and rub it into your lips before you go to bed, repeat until you get a result. Look for a Vitamin E based balm to use during the day… hope it helps!

Carmex, Blistex, and vaseline are great products to use. I prefer Carmex because it seals the skin with the ingredient called camphor. This is the ingredient that is going to make your skin tingle when applied to the skin. So when it tingles it means it is working. You just have lack of moisture to your skin which is not uncommon. Some people have dry skin and some people have oily skin so just use what you feel works for you.
